Bee Removal

Many times when Round Rock Honey gets a call about removing a hive of bees, the "hive" is not a hive at all, but a swarm. Swarms of bees usually attach themselves to branches of trees or the overhang of a roof, and typically only stay around for 12-24 hours before moving on.

Swarms of bees are not that dangerous since the bees are usually more interested in finding a new nesting site than attacking people or animals. Hives of bees are more permanent; usually nesting a wall. Hives are more defensive because they have honey and brood comb to defend.

Round Rock Honey will remove both hives and swarms. Swarms we remove for $50. Hives are removed based on the following fee schedule:

  • free hive removal to most non-profit organizations
  • $200 flat-rate for private individuals
  • $400 flat-rate for businesses

We do not kill bees when we remove them. Instead we relocate to our own honey-producing hives using a special "bee vacuum". WE DO NOT REMOVE BEES INSIDE THE TRUNK OF A TREE. If you would like us to remove bees from your property, please take a few moments to answer the following questions:

  • Describe the site wherein the bees are located.
  • Are bees coming and going all day from the hive?
  • How long have the bees been at their present location?
  • Is a power outlet within 20' of the hive?
  • Is there a water hose, or other access to water within 20' of hive?
  • Do you own the property and/or structure on which the bees are located?
  • Is honey present?

Once these questions are answered, just fill out our Bee Removal Agreement (PDF) and our Beekeeper Agreement (PDF) and email to .
